Also contains adulting fails, the adventures of the TinySheeps, and a bundle of fantastic interviews with people far smarter than us. Find us at moxiebooks.co.uk.

Do you feel like you’re shooting in the dark when it comes to your marketing? Targeting everyone and their dog probably isn’t the best idea. It’s expensive and it can discourage you when you see a fleeting ROI. Many businesses understand the importance of knowing their demographics, but they often stop there. They don’t dive deeper; they don’t know what truly motivates someone into buying. That’s the difference between an interested crowd and a starving crowd.

Key Takeaways:

[1:25] Who is Gary Halbert?

[6:15] Who is your ideal customer? Anybody with money is the wrong answer.

[7:35] Vicky asked her subscribers what their biggest challenge was. She got a response back that was kind of ridiculous.

[11:05] Hey, by the way, Vicky would love to hear from you. Have you taken her up on her advice recently from the podcast? Write to her what your experience was like!

[13:15] Instead of spending $10k on everybody and his dog, spend $1k on advertising reaching out to a focused group.

[14:15] Think about your advertising strategy in terms of ROI, not in terms of how many people see it.

[15:05] How do you find your starving crowd?

[17:00] How does Vicky know she’s found her starving crowd?

[22:20] When you want to really discover who your starving crowd is, it boils down to actually talking to them, not looking at the statistics of whom your product is good for.

[24:10] Don’t just stop at the demographics. Dig deeper and find out what motivates them.

[25:00] Tune in next week to discover how to dig deeper and find that motivation!
