We are wired to be social beings. We need a tribe to help us survive and thrive, which means we need to fit in as much as we can. However, in business, it’s almost exactly the opposite. We need to stand out and be different, but throughout the years, and centuries, this has proven to be very dangerous to do. Standing out too much meant you could be ostracized from society. So, it makes sense why you might have some real and deep fears about showing up in a way that’s different and eye-catching in your business.

Key Takeaways:

[3:10] Vicky’s new book is coming along nicely.

[4:25] Why are you such a scaredy cat, dear listener?

[6:40] Vicky has a recurring fear that stems from her awkward childhood days.

[13:00] As an introvert, Joe never really quite understood what the big deal was about being ostracized from a society.

[14:50] Standing out from the crowd is socially risky. Rejection is actually quite horrible for us as humans.

[17:00] You’d be surprised by how many people are chronically lonely. In fact, social media gives us the illusion that we’re connected to others online, but it’s making the problem worse.

[19:00] While it’s important that you fit in socially, it’s almost suicide business-wise to do that.

[24:35] Vicky is always skeptical about people who proclaim having a 6 or 7-figure launch. What really went on behind the scenes for you to achieve that? How many refunds did you have to do?

[28:35] Everybody has that ‘thing’ that they haven’t done because they’re afraid. Well, here’s your chance. Go out and do it!

[30:15] By the way, you should definitely join the inner circle group. It’s the perfect place where you can talk to people who finally get it and get you.
